Our TrueHeroes about their TrueBike

Without our early adopters, we wouldn´t be where we are now. They believed the TrueBike would make a big difference in their training. They started training on beta versions of our bike, they reported the bugs, and we delivered software and hardware updates. We are very thankful for their feedback and patience. You can read their stories below, and their experience with the TrueBike.

For more reviews, we are working with TrustPilot.

Lars Vreugdenhil

Bio: Owner of Amsterdam Sports Events and also the organizer of the TRI HARD Series.

“I am an example of someone who made his hobby his job, so sports is a very important part of my life.”

Which sports performance are you proud of?
“Since 2013 I have organized more than 40 triathlons with an enthusiastic team and many other (sports) events. I’m always proud of all those hundreds of athletes that I see cross the finish line with us, because I know everyone has their own story. My own best sports performance so far was last year, when I squeezed out a sub 10 hours during my first full distance triathlon. Challenge Roth is one of the greatest triathlons in the world, so getting over the finish line in 9.46 hours on my first attempt gave me a big boost.”

What big or small goals would you like to achieve?
“After this ‘Corona year,’ we all want to get back to the normal life as soon as possible. Working together again, training, racing, and socializing. Hopefully, we will still organize some nice sports events and triathlons, and in September I will be at the start of the Ironman Hamburg. That is my A-Race for this year and I’m so looking forward to it!”

How did you experience the first introduction to TrueKinetix?
“Beautiful design and a good story behind the product. I wanted to know more about that.”

What was your first reaction when you tried the TrueBike for the first time?
“Honesty compels me to say that, except for a Wattbike, I had never been on an indoor bike or Tacx. The reason for that is that, if possible, I prefer to cycle and train outside. But the TrueBike immediately felt good and familiar, as if I was pedaling on an ordinary bike.”

How do you notice that the TrueBike helps you improve your training performance?
“For the short interval sets, I like the TrueBike. When it rains I can keep on training, and that’s a plus of course.”

Sebastiaan Bleekemolen

Bio: Racing driver by profession. By staying fit for his motorsport he ‘accidentally’ came into contact with triathlon. Sport has become a daily routine and it has made Sebastiaan a calmer person.

“Unfortunately, there are no races right now, but it feels like I have more strength in my legs than ever before.”

Which sports performance are you proud of?
“I’ve won several motorsport championships in my career. Also, I finished an Ironman six times and to me, that’s at least as great an achievement.”

What big or small goals would you like to achieve?
“Faster and better with triathlon. As far as motor racing is concerned, I’m at the end of my career, so this is a great goal.”

How did you first experience TrueKinetix?
“I had heard from Bas (founder) at an early stage and was immediately interested.”

What was your first reaction when you tried the TrueBike for the first time?

Did you encounter problems with your previous training solution that you don’t have with the TrueBike?
“I’m doing more training indoors now, intervals only. Much safer!”

“I was less eager to get on the previous indoor trainer because I felt numb after each session.”

How do you notice that the TrueBike helps you to improve your training performance?

Daniel Nagel

Bio: Triathlete: 2nd age group IronMan UK 2019 & IronMan World Championship Hawaii 2019 finisher.

“I do 85% of my cycling training indoors. That is because of my three children at home, and time efficiency.”

How did you first experience TrueKinetix?
“As a revelation.”

What was your first reaction when you first tried the TrueBike?

“How is this possible?”

Did you encounter problems with your previous training solution that you don’t have with the TrueBike?

“It’s not so much a problem solver. More a difference in quality. For me, it’s a comparison from Eredivisie (Dutch professional football) to the Champions League, compared to other indoor trainers.”

How do you notice that the TrueBike helps you improve your training performance?
“I do 85% of my cycling training indoors. That is because of my three children at home, time efficiency, and training efficiency. The cycling experience and the data visualizations of the TrueBike are the ingredients for me to be able to do short and long rides indoors.”

Sander den Hartog

Bio: After his family, sport and exercise are the most important things in his life. He owns a small, but global software company. He plans his sports moments and then fits his work around it.

“I’m not proud of my sports performance, but the road to it.”

What big or small goals would you like to achieve?
“My goal is to stay fit so that I can participate in an ultrarun or extreme bike ride at any time.”

What sports performance are you very proud of?
The performance isn’t even what I’m proud of, but the road to it. For big events (Ironman and ultra-running) you need to train very consistently. Maintaining that consistency is what I am most proud of.”

How did you first experience TrueKinetix
?
“Fine, a bit messy as you can expect from a startup.”

What was your first reaction when you tried the TrueBike for the first time?

“My first feeling was that it was a bit of an old-fashioned bike with an old-fashioned interface… Until I sat down on it… It rides really great. Much better than the Wattbike from the gym or the Tacx at home I was used to before.”

Did you run into problems with your previous training solution that you didn’t have with the TrueBike?
“For me, there are three very big advantages: One: I don’t have to ‘sacrifice’ one of my outdoor bikes to the Tacx or reassemble it all the time. Two: My wife gets on the indoor bike just as easily. She lowers the saddle and she goes. We don’t have to take my bike out, and put her bike in. Three: It just cycles much better. Suddenly 2,5 hours of indoor cycling is no longer a problem.”

How do you notice that the TrueBike helps you to improve your training performance?
“First of all, indoor training is very efficient and can be carried out very precisely. Second, because the threshold is so low to jump on, you train more and more consistently.”

Paul Slot

Bio: Besides family and work, triathlon is his third passion and a way of life. He is also a qualified triathlon trainer and he enjoys helping others to improve themselves.

What sport performance are you very proud of?
“You won’t find me on the big stages. I take part in competitions that I like because they are held in a wonderful place (like the Ironman in Lanzarote or Xiamen), or because of the difficulty of the course. For example, in 2019 I finished third in the TriathlonX in the English mountains around Wasdale.”

Which big or small goals would you like to achieve?
“I believe in the continuous improvement and development of myself. I hope  to compete again with the Israman in January ’21. But the Norseman is also on my wish list. Nice heavy, long-distance triathlons.”

How did you first experience TrueKinetix?
“Super! My work is about people and technique. Truekinetix knows how to combine enthusiasm for cycling with a passion for technique. I prefer to work with people who share my passion and that’s what I found at Truekinetix! Passion for cycling and for technology.”

What was your first reaction when you tried the TrueBike for the first time?
“That it looks like an ordinary bike.”

Did you encounter problems with your previous training solution that you don’t have with the TrueBike?
“On my previous trainer, it didn’t feel like I trained on a bike. Or when you’re stuck in the bike trainer with your bike, you’re afraid that the forces will demolish your bike frame.”

How do you notice that the TrueBike helps you to improve your training performance?
“I cycle indoors with more pleasure. The data (I love data) that are registered  are also more than enough to fine tune your training sessions.”

Dimitri Stefas | NVFS Sports physiotherapist MSc, Fysio Oude IJsselstreek

Bio: Discovered triathlon when he was seventeen years old. He learned that lifestyle was very important for improving sports performance. Heart rate analyses, bike position, materials and aerodynamics, he was already  working on this at an early age. Afterwards, his clinical eye got a more scientific touch with his function as NVFS Sports Physical Therapist MSc.

What athletic performance are you very proud of?
“Placing for and therefore participating in the European Triathlon Championships for almost twenty years and winning the Eastern Dutch Championship Triathlon in 1990. I also like the 9’01” for 3km and the 15’37” for 5km that I later ran as an athlete.”

Which big or small goals would you like to achieve?
“The goal is still to be able to do sports four or six times a week, alternately cycling or running.”

How did you experience the first introduction to TrueKinetix?

“A young brand that radiated enthusiasm, clearly with a lot of knowledge of endurance sports.”

What was your first reaction when you tried the TrueBike for the first time?

“I already had a lot of experience with cycling on the Tacx Neo. The special thing about the TrueBike for me was that it is an indoor training bike in one piece. It feels more stable, especially when standing or sprinting. The data screen is a feast for the eyes. The adjustment possibilities for saddle height and steering distance are very wide.”

Did you encounter problems with your previous training solution that you didn’t have with the TrueBike?
“The only difference is that with the TrueBike I also climb standing up or sprint out of the saddle, but I don’t see that as a problem for my old training method. Despite the fact that the TrueBike is easy to customize, my road bike still feels most familiar. It could be that the different handlebars, handlebar connection and saddle influence that.”

How do you notice that the TrueBike helps you to improve your training performance?
“Especially higher wattages I dare to use more often, without the fear of damaging the frame. The pedal force is an eye-opener, and all the other easy-to-access data  on the screen helps during training.”
