“One race stands out for me: My first full distance triathlon, Ironman Florida. Racing such a brutal distance gave me a massive kick and that made me go much faster than I anticipated beforehand.”

The young Dutch triathlete is chasing an Ironman podium spot and he has the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Michiel: “To get there, I still have to win on the bike. I choose to do this on the TrueBike, it feels so realistic.”
I LOVE BEING A PROFESSIONAL TRIATHLETE
“Triathlon is still a very new sport to me. I absolutely love being a professional triathlete. I love it mentally. Not the part where you are still fresh and friendly. No, I love that dark place where you have to suffer and fight your demons. That’s what got me hooked in the first place, it’s addictive. I’m very proud of my first and only full-distance triathlon, Ironman Florida. Racing such a brutal distance gave me a massive kick. It made me go faster and faster.”

BIG DREAMS, WILD ADVENTURES
The young Dutch triathlete is chasing an Ironman podium spot and has the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Michiel: “To get there, I have to become better on the bike. I chose to do this on the TrueBike, it feels so realistic. It’s good to have this advantage over the other competitors.”
TRAINING INDOORS IS SUPER EFFICIENT FOR ME
“Living in the Netherlands, and specifically in Amsterdam, means that there’s always something or someone to be aware of. Traffic lights, bridges, cars, other cyclists. Training indoors doesn’t have those problems. You can go as far and fast as you like. It helps you develop some mental strength as well.”
